The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the completion of Phase 1 and the start of Phase 2 work which includes replacing the Metro North/Atlantic Street Bridge, the reconstruction of Atlantic Street and track and infrastructure improvements to the Stamford Train Station. Check this website and the Atlantic Street Bridge Facebook page and Twitter feed for construction progress photos and updated information about detours, road closures and lane changes. The first major part of Phase 2 is to install the railroad track jump spans to prepare the new abutments for the replacement of the MNRR Bridge over Atlantic Street. This work will take place during evening hours only with no reduction in train service expected. The jump span installations are scheduled to be completed by Fall 2018 with work on the new bridge and the lowering of Atlantic Street continuing into 2019. Station improvements will be completed by Fall 2020.
